1. One week prior to your treatment, avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications e.g Ibuprofen, Gingko Biloba, Vitamin E and fish oil supplements. These may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Remember, it's important to check with your Doctor if you have an existing condition that requires you to take blood-thinners before you stop taking regular prescribed medication.

2. Adding leafy greens to your diet will boost your Vitamin K levels and help to reduce the possibility of bruising and swelling.

3. Arnica supplements have been shown to reduce discomfort, bruising, and swelling from injectable procedures. Arnica pills may be started the day before or the day of treatment and should be continued until bruising has resolved.

4. On the day, it's advisable to avoid working out or going to the gym ahead of your appointment as flushed skin can lead to more bruising due to the amount of blood at the skin's surface.

5. Please arrive without make-up as your skin will need to be clean at the injection site(s) to limit the possibility of infection post treatment.

You should also not consume any alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid increased bruising and swelling.^

Most of our treatments include injections to the skin. Whenever the skin is punctured there's a risk of bruising and swelling. Our practitioners are highly skilled and do their clinical best to ensure veins are avoided, though it's impossible to avoid all underlying structures of the skin.

It's our advice to time your treatments, to avoid any special occasions within a 14-day period of a procedure. This should ensure that any residual bruising or swelling, if experienced, has subsided following your injection treatments.

To ensure safe practice we don't treat clients for any of our injectable treatments 2 weeks before a COVID-19 vaccine and 2 weeks post vaccine.

Cosmetic treatment experts and industry bodies have issued guidelines for dermal fillers after a few cases of swelling that were related to dermal fillers and the COVID-19 vaccination. The advice is that it is best to leave a 2 week interval before having dermal fillers and 2 weeks after in order to minimise the risks of post-inflammatory swelling or reaction.

We will check this with you before you book your appointment. We ask that you put your physical health above any aesthetic treatment, and to inform us of any upcoming or recent vaccinations.

We will give you aftercare advice following your lip filler appointment, but here are a few things to be aware of after the treatment:

+ Avoid alcohol for a minimum of 24 hours.
+ You should also avoid strenuous exercise, heat exposure and touching or massaging the lips (this can interfere with the placement of the filler) for 1-2 days post-lip fillers.
+ It's important that you keep hydrated by drinking lots of water after your treatment.

If you're allergic to any of the ingredients in hyaluronic acid lip fillers, you will not be able to go ahead with the treatment. Also, if the skin in the lip area is swollen, damaged or infected, lip injections should not be administered. Auto-immune diseases and allergies to the substances used in the products, including lidocaine are contra-indicated to this treatment.

Lip fillers are also not recommended if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

As part of your consultation you'll be asked to identify any current or past illnesses, medications and allergies prior to any treatment being carried out. We ask you to be fully honest with your answers as we want your treatment to be safe, and that you achieve the best aesthetic result possible.

Lip filler injections can be remarkably pain free as we use a topical numbing cream before any injecting begins. This minimises the amount of discomfort you may feel.

All of our injectable fillers come pre-loaded with lidocaine - the same anaesthetic that your Dentist will use.

It doesn't take much filler to make your lips plumper. The average treatment will require just 0.5 to 1 ml of filler to achieve the desired effects, so you are unlikely to need more than one syringe of dermal filler. In some cases, a little more filler may be used to achieve a more dramatic look, but it would rarely require more than 2ml (or 2 syringes) of filler.

Despite the lips being injected with filler, they actually should not swell dramatically straight after the procedure. The lips should appear as they will do once the post-treatment swelling (which can arrive later) has diminished - so you should see your lips close to how they'll look as the finished product.

All hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be safely dissolved with a product called Hyalase. This is a fast acting dissolving agent, which will remove the unwanted filler quickly.
